Wedding Gift Ideas for Your Future Spouse
If your partner loves surprises or if you’re the type of person who loves to shower your spouse-to-be with gifts, your wedding day might just be the perfect opportunity to do something extra special and unexpected.
Although never required, wedding gifts for your future spouse can be a fun and meaningful addition to your big day. Here are some of my favorite gift ideas if you’re looking for inspiration!
A Boudoir Album and/or Photo Prints
As a boudoir photographer, I love it when my clients want to gift their partner something special from their session with me. Whether you want a few seductive photo prints to surprise your spouse with on your wedding day, or you know they’d love an album of your entire boudoir session, it’s something they’re bound to love.
Especially if you integrate something of theirs into your session, like their favorite sweater, a jersey of their favorite sports team, or something custom-made you know they’ll love!
Something They’ve Always Wanted
Only you know your person best: what’s something they’ve dreamed about? Or something they’ve talked about getting, but it feels like too much of a splurge? Consider surprising them with it!
A Bonus Bouquet
Even the sturdiest of bouquets can feel the impact of a long wedding day and end up wilted or not quite as vibrant by the end of the night. Talk with your florist about adding a bonus bouquet on your wedding day, especially to feature flowers they love in a vase you can keep at home.
A Memory Box
If you’re someone who’s been collecting items like notes, tickets from concerts you’ve been to together, or other small items throughout your relationship together, consider wrapping them up and gifting them to your spouse! Memory boxes can be one of the most meaningful and emotional gift items for your wedding day.
Unique Wedding-Day Accessories
Want to find something they can use on the wedding day? Some great options include things like custom-made cufflinks, necklace or other jewelry, a fun tie or bowtie, a luxury watch, or some new cologne or perfume.
A Wedding Surprise
Maybe go for something big on the big day! Think of something they won’t expect: a local singer or musician, a wedding painter, a flash mob dance, etc.
Colorblind Corrective Glasses
If your partner is colorblind and has never experienced what it’s like to view the world through your eyes, gifting them color corrective glasses on their wedding day could be just the thing. There’s nothing quite like seeing the world in all its beautiful color, especially on a day that features a specific color palette or showcases colors of a specific season.
Custom Wall Art
Online shops like Etsy are loaded with unique gift ideas to hang on your walls, like a map of the stars on the day you met or your wedding day, unique maps or paintings of special places you’ve been together. Or splurge on something signed by your spouse’s favorite artist, band, musician, or athlete.
A New Pet
Half-joking, but seriously! If you’ve already been talking about getting a new pet, your wedding day could be a great time to surprise your spouse with a dog or cat from a local animal shelter or rescue foundation. And even if your venue isn’t pet friendly, you could always share a photo of your new fur baby in a letter or combined with another small gift on the wedding day!
An Excursion or Event During Your Honeymoon
Depending on where and when you’ll be going on your honeymoon, signing up for an unforgettable excursion or buying tickets to a major concert might be a great idea.
A Spa Day
Who doesn’t love getting pampered after planning a wedding together? This idea could be a surprise just for your partner, or you could splurge on a spa day for the two of you together, complete with a couples massage.
Love Letter with Photos Inside
Sometimes the best gifts come directly from the heart. Even if you plan to say personal vows at your ceremony later, consider gifting your spouse a more private love letter complete with photos inside.
Something Special to Honor a Lost Loved One
Maybe your partner has lost a family member like a sibling, parent, or grandparent, either many years ago or during the months leading up to your wedding. A gift to honor them could speak volumes and help them feel closer to their loved ones who aren’t present to celebrate the day with you both.
What to Look for When Choosing a Wedding Gift for Your Partner
The most important thing to remember when shopping for or creating a wedding gift for your spouse is thinking about what will feel most unique, meaningful, or personalized for them. What kinds of things speak most to your love story? What items might make them laugh or be surprised the most? What would feel the most memorable and timeless?
